Interview with Niamh Gilligan

How can you help education settings?

I can help education settings to come up with a healthy school meals menu whilst providing allergy education for school staff. I can also provide educational talks on healthy eating for staff, students and parents, and provide specialist education such as carbohydrate counting for school staff with a diabetic student.

How can you help students?

I can help students through providing education on healthy eating on a budget, advice regarding recommended activity levels and meal preparation and healthy snacking tips.

What advice would you give to a school leadership team?

Establishing healthy eating and lifestyle from a young age plays a key role in later life. We are role models to the next generation and must help and guide them to make healthier choices, and that education is strongly linked with an individual’s nutritional status.
